Happy Mother's Day!

Room 5 took some time before Mother's Day to think, talk and write about some of the special reasons that we love the wonderful mums, grandmas, aunties and caregivers in our lives.  We hope you all had a wonderful, love-filled Mother's Day!

 

Snap, Crackle, Pop - Static Electricity

In Room 5 we have been exploring some different physical phenomena that we see in our everyday lives.  Here is an example of a static electricity activity from Steve Spangler Science that we tried in class, and that can be fun to do at home too!

ANZAC WW100 


Remembering the 100th Commemoration of the first ANZAC joint military action by New Zealand and Australia - remembering family and friends who have served or are serving our country at home or overseas.






As part of our discussions and inquiry about ANZAC Day, children in Room 5 shared discussions, stories and some bought along photos of their ancestors who are now part of 
our joint history.

We enjoyed creating special pieces of art to help us make connections with the history of ANZAC Day and the symbolism of the poppy.

Our New Furniture!!!

Our snazzy new kid-sized furniture has arrived.  We love it!  

Rainbow tables, whiteboard tables, ergonomic chairs, bean bags, a comfy rug, a changeable pod couch, ottomans, and cookie pad mats. Here are some photos of us enjoying our furniture:

Design, Make, Market! 

Room 5's Inquiry focus for this term is 'Design, Make and Market.  At our level, we are inquiring into designing, and making an item to sell at our Market Day, later this term.  

The purpose behind this inquiry is to help us understand and become involved in aspects of real life 'enterprise' at our level of learning. We will have a focus on our part in helping to raise money that will go towards all our lovely new furniture.

Part of our initial wondering is exploring ideas around buying and selling. Here are some photos of our learning in action!
